Publishing houses reject Jane Austen's works

A Jane Austen fan and budding author sent typed chapters from Jane Austen's novels (changing the names of characters and the names of the novels) to 18 publishers. Only one publisher was able to recognize Austen's works. Another author managed to recognize them as 'a really original read', but others simply never got back: plain reject. This is how educated the publication industry is.
