Alzheimers may be third form of diabetes


There is a growing school of thought that Alzheimer's may actually be a third form of diabetes. Recent studies show that insulin binds to a receptor in the synapses triggering a mechanism for nerve cells to survive and retain memory. In patients with alzheimers a toxic protein in the brain prevents insulin from binding properly.
