Artificial heart removed after girl's heart regenerates

This 15 year old girl's artificial heart was removed after her own heart healed. Doctors had earlier implanted a Berlin heart, a portable mechanical device that pumps blood, to keep the girl alive until a replacement was ready to be transplanted. Over the next few months, her heart improved a lot, and the artificial heart was removed. The Berlin heart is also the world's first mechanical heart designed for children.
